John McCabe, MD, DDS. - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr. McCabe is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who received both his dental and medical degrees from Columbia University in New York City, NY. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Along with his extensive experience in the full scope of his specialty, his special interests include dental surgery, implants, anesthesia, reconstructive surgery and corrective jaw surgery.

His previous professional experiences include academics, private practice and federal service. He was a full-time Assistant Professor at Columbia University for nearly ten years and was more recently Associate Professor and Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition Dr. McCabe has served as the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Department of Veterans Affairs in New York. He is also and active officer in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He has authored many professional articles that have been published in national journals. His private practice experiences have been in New York, New Jersey, Iowa and Minnesota.

Dr. McCabe is married to Barbara McCabe, M.D. who is a psychiatrist. They have three children Sean, Jackie and Bobby. Both Drs. McCabe are native New Yorkers who came to us from Iowa where they had been residing for the past four years. We are certain that the McCabe family will find Connecticut and its people a wonderful place to live and work.

Jin Jiang, DMD, Ph.D. - Endodontist

Dr. Jiang is a Board Certified Endodontist. She received her specialty training in Endodontology at the University of Connecticut Health Center where she also received her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science. Dr. Jiang has worked as assistant professor in Endodontics at the University of Florida and University of Connecticut. She has authored more than 40 scientific and clinical publications in areas of Endodontics and Bone Biology. She currently serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and reviewer of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Endodontics and a member of American Association of Endodontics. Dr. Jiang currently holds a part-time faculty position as an assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Department of Endodontics.

Damon Jenkins, DMD, MPH - Prosthodontist (Crown, Bridge & Denture Specialist)

Dr. Jenkins earned his Certificate of Prosthodontics from LSU School of Dentistry and his MPH from LSU School of Public Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he earned his DMD. He received his certificate from Lutheran Medical Center GPR in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Jenkins has experience with full mouth implant restoration, overdentures, complex rehabilitation of crown and bridge, cosmetic smile makeovers and is proficient in removable prosthetic case design and fabrication. Dr. Jenkins is certified in conscious sedation from LSU Charity Hospital, New Orleans. He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics and the America Dental Association. He is an active officer in the United States Army Reserve Dental Corp and recently returned from Iraq. Dr. Jenkins is working as a full time provider with Columbia Dental.

Min-Sung Yoon, DDS - Prosthodontist (Crown, Bridge and Denture Specialist)

Dr. Yoon completed his specialty training in Prosthodontics as well as his general studies at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. He currently holds a part-time position on the faculty of the post graduate prosthodontic program at Columbia University in New York. He has experience with full mouth implant restoration, implant supported overdentures, complex rehabilitation of crown and bridge, cosmetic smile makeovers and is proficient in removable prosthetics. Dr. Yoon is currently working as a full-time provider with Columbia Dental.

Sarosh Dastoor, DMD, MS - Periodontist

Dr. Dastoor is a board certified Periodontist who received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his certificate and Masters of Science degree in Periodontics from the University of Michigan. He held an appointment as an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and authored multiple articles in nationally recognized Periodontal and Dental Implant journals. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and a member of the American Dental Association. He is proficient in all aspects of Periodontics and has a special interest in the field of dental implantology for tooth replacement. Dr. Dastoor was born in Michigan and raised in Florida.

Akbar Dawood, DMD - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon

Dr Akbar Dawood is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine ( DMD ) degree. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree was obtained by him from University of Pune, India. He completed his specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and trained at Montefiore Medical Center in New York where he served as the Chief Resident.

Dr. Dawood has experience in all aspects of maxillofacial surgery including dentoalveolar surgery, reconstruction and pathology, facial trauma, implant surgery and Orthognathic Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons , American Dental Association and CT State Dental Society and a Diplomat of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology .

He has offered valuable voluntary community services through Rotary and Lions Club.

Asma Ijaz, DDS, BDS - General Dentist

Dr. Ijaz graduated from New York University College of Dentistry, and was awarded a prestigous fellowship degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Great Britain. She is experienced in clinical evaluation of complex reconstructive cases which include TMJ, Endodontics, and Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Ijaz is a member of American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.

Qiaomei Yan DMD,DDS,PhD - General Dentist

Dr Yan graduated with high honors from Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston University. She began her professional studies at the Sichuan University in China and was one of the Chief Physicians in the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Stomatology and the Affiliated Ninth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Dr. Yan also did extensive research in biomedical fields in both China and USA. She holds M.S. in dental material science and Ph.D. in tissue engineering. She has co-authored 18 papers published in peer-reviewed prestigious scientific journals and given presentations in numerous international and regional meetings. Dr. Yan received many honors which include Lee Hysan Scholar from University of California, San Francisco and Scientific Rising Star of Shanghai from Shanghai Municipal Government. She is experienced in treatment planning and clinical evaluation of complex occlusal reconstruction, with a special interest in crown and bridge and teeth missing restorations.

Abbas Mohammadi, DDS - General Dentist

Dr. Mohammadi received his Doctoral of Dental Surgery from Columbia University in New York, NY. There he attended the Department of Periodontics and the School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Dr. Mohammadi has done extensive research in the areas of molecular biology and microbiology related to periodontal diseases (gum disease). He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Connecticut Dental Association, Manchester Dental Association and World Clinical Laser Academy.

Thomas Thalody, DDS - General Dentist

Dr. Thalody is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. He continued his education at Yale University and Saint Mary’s Hospital where he earned a Post Doctorial Certificate GPR. Dr. Thalody began his professional studies at the University of Mysore SJM Dental College in India. He has experience in all areas of general dentistry with a special interest in crown and bridge restoration. Dr. Thalody is a member of the American Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry and the Connecticut State Dental Association.

Setareh Mozafari, DDS - Orthodontist

Dr. Mozafari is a Board Certified Orthodontist, who graduated from University of Southern California, School of Dentistry and has earned her certificate of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry and Strong Memeorial Hospital. She is a Diplomate of American Board of Orthodontics and holds following memberships: AAO (American Association of Orthodontics), AAOF (American Association of Orthodontics Foundation), CDA (Connecticut Dental Association). Dr. Mozafari treats children as well as adults.

Lisa Michelle Gilkes, DDS - Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Gilkes is a graduate of Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC. She received a certificate of general dentistry from The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY as well as a certificate in pediatric dentistry from Interfaith Hospital which is also located in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently a member of The Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentist, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, The National Dental Association and many others.

HaLee Gardner graduated from Tunxis Community- Technical College, 1993. She earned her name on the deans list for academic achievement.

J. Laurel Rose, R.D.H. - Dental Hygienist

J. Laurel Rose, graduated from Fones School of Dental Hygiene, University of Bridgeport, CT. She is the previous owner of Dental Power of Northern CT. She has over 25 years experience as an hygienist. Laurel completed her anesthesia certification at the Mount Ida College, Boston Massachussetts.
